#Oracle Academy has developed and produced Raspberry Pi weather stations kits and has shipped them to schools in the UK. Over the next few weeks they will be shipped to over 200 Oracle Academy member schools in 39 countries across the world.

Since 2014, Oracle Academy has worked with the Raspberry Pi Education Foundation in the UK to support the Foundation’s development, design, build, test of the Raspberry Pi Weather Station. These kits are now being distributed free to the 1,000 schools that applied to the Pi Education Foundation. The kits will allow students to record weather data from schools around the globe and share this with each other via the use of Application Express (APEX) database.

The aim is to help teachers deliver fun and creative cross curricular activities that engage pupils in the world around them. Typical activities will include coding to gather data from the measurement instruments, commissioning the weather station, creating web pages to display local weather conditions and using databases to gather and analyze large data sets.

We are looking forward to seeing the results of this project as students around the world start their journey gathering data to explore the weather and learn new skills in data analysis.
