Being gay isn't a phase or a lifestyle; it's part of who someone is. It isn't a "choice," just as we can't choose what color eyes or skin we're born with.
What IS a choice is compassion for and acceptance of others. Choose to love people as they are, not what you wish them to be. When people embrace LGBT citizens as equals, the world will be a better place, just as it became when slavery was abolished or women fought for the right to vote. Every time the minority is given a more equal voice, society is changed for the better.
We all have just one life to live: why not make the choice to empower and lift others up? ----------------------------------------------------------
