Great post on @WhatTheFlicka today about compromising with kids (and colorful hair). Compromising with teens is a a different animal than with a three year old, obviously. And as I wrestle with that razor's edge between giving them space and being a parent, a friend gave me a wonderful sentence to say to myself when my 14 year old announces, "I want pink hair!" (See, it happens at every age!). The mantra goes, "I can't wait to see how she works this out perfectly for herself." It gives me the necessary pause so I don't blurt out, "No! That's crazy!" and sets my internal compass to love and faith in my daughter. It's worked so far...fingers crossed. #Repost ・・・
