Photograph by @paulnicklen in Qaanaaq, Greenland for #NatGeoEarthDay. Huskies get very excited to pull komatiks (sleds) across the sea ice. I marveled that they had energy left to play after a long day of pulling. With @Cristina Mittermeier, @natgeopristineseas and @sea_legacy. Being in Northwest Greenland was like going back in time. These famous hunters of the high arctic spoke openly about the effects of climate change on their way of life. Their subsistence comes from the sea and the sea ice acts as their highway. As the sea ice disappears so does their way of life. Please follow me on @paulnicklen this week as I continue to post images from this polar expedition. I shot 42,000 images in two weeks which is a record for me. That is over 3000 images a day which would have been 100 rolls of film shot per day.
