On 15 April 1989, an FA Cup semi final was held at Hillsborough in Sheffield, between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

That day is etched into the memories of many football fans around the world, after 96 Liverpool fans died in a crush on the terraces. More than 750 fans were also injured.

For 27 years, families of those who died have relentlessly campaigned, after it was initially concluded that fans were to blame. Today, after a long inquest, it was finally concluded those fans were NOT to blame.

Emerging outside the court, families of the deceased spontaneously broke out into the club anthem, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ Today, one of the most significant hashtags on Social Media has been validated after all these years. #JFT96
