Today's #PhotoOfTheDay depicts King Street, showing the intersection of George Street and King Street. The Belfield's Hotel - Royal Exchange Hotel can be seen on the right (which according to Google Maps is now a Telstra store) and Frank Howes & Co. Tailors is located adjacent to the Hotel. W.T Waters & Co., Drapers and Mercers can be seen on the left on 'Block Corner' (You may have ducked over here to take the escalators down to Coles). The 'Erskine St.' 657 tram can be seen in the centre of the image and a hansom cab, number 217 is depicted in the lower right corner of the image. Other horsedrawn vehicles can be seen along King Street.
Numerous pedestrians can be seen, including school boys, and a messenger boy. Two policeman can be seen, one is standing on the left side of the intersection, the other is standing in the middle of the intersection apparently directing traffic. The tram line is visible and telegraph poles and streetlights are present. #POTD #MAAScollection #TyrrellCollection
