Each piece in Neri Oxman’s 3D-printed GLASS series, on view in @cooperhewitt’s #DesignTriennial through Aug. 21, is built up from tubes of molten glass, layer by layer, yielding optically transparent structures. The tubular forms have the potential to contain and transmit media. This new technique has enormous potential for creating vessels and products as well as architectural components and building facades. The technique was unveiled by Oxman and her Mediated Matter group in September, 2015.
