#PaulAnthonySmith scanned an image of a Kuba mask depicting a central woman in Kuba history over a photograph of his mother. In a process known as picotage, he then removed portions of the photograph’s top layer to highlight the geometric surface of such masks. The results suggest how any person’s body can be transformed into an archetype, becoming another body capable of symbolizing a larger history. #disguisebkm
