If you've followed for awhile, you may recall that one year ago today, we took off on a journey that we spent a year and a half preparing, researching, and working our asses off for. We sold our house, nearly everything we owned, and renovated a 1957 Airstream to call home while we traveled for a year. Our journey was cut short halfway through, quite unexpectedly, we found ourselves back in a brick-and-mortar, 9-5ing, and working through some emotional family stuff. For six months we've worked through blinding anger and sadness, trying to understand why we worked so hard to have life deal us such a shitty hand - why our dream was over. In the past few weeks, we've begun to turn a corner. My wife and I have finally started talking to one another about our life on the road, how we feel now, and how we've truly felt over the last months. One day we plan to be on the road again, but for now, we know that we are here to face things that need to be faced, things we cannot run from or pretend don't exist- money, relationships, personal battles. We are feeling peace, even if today is a bit harder than others - today isn't a day where we are taking off on an epic journey, like this day just one year ago - if things had gone as planned, we'd be wrapping up our year on the road today. Instead, we are drinking coffee, listening to @shovelsnrope, and about to go work on our new Airstream on a sunny, sticky, Indiana day, with contentment for where we are, for what we have, and what life can bring us.
