Brave men and women have protested and fought for LGBT rights and though we've come a long way, we still have a long way to go. Marriage equality was not the end of our fight—not so long as gay teens are kicked out of their homes; not so long as dozens of anti-gay bills are passed in state legislatures all over the country; not so long as LGBT men and women are massacred all over the world.

I send love to everyone: to the victims and their families; to the witnesses—especially those who helped the wounded; to the law enforcement who arrived at the scene and put an end to the violence; to the people whose religion has been unfairly hijacked by extremists; to the allies who have stood in solidarity with the LGBT community; and to anyone who has ever been affected by gun violence or a hate crime. I send love to my lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender brothers and sisters. I send love to everyone who has died for civil rights or suffered at the hands of injustice. I send love to my family and friends because, once again, I've been reminded of how fleeting life is.

We all deserve the right to live in a world where we do not have to fear leaving our homes and going to restaurants, movie theatres, schools, or nightclubs. We must all continue to spread love and hope while we peacefully, but forcefully fight for the right to live in a world that is free and safe.
