I was having a conversation with family today and this was said, "Don't let anyone dictate your choices. Always be yourself and decide the when, what and how that works best for you and everything will fall in its right place as it should." Wow. That really struck a chord, especially on a day where independence is celebrated, and I thought how fitting because freedom is also an inside job too. •
All throughout the weekend and today, I carved out room to turn off the devices and unplug. Just for an hour or two here and there, sometimes more, other times less. It sounds like such a small thing but it freed up so much of my energy reserves, my thought processes and opened my eyes to a refreshed sense of wonder over the tiny details that are easy to overlook but magical when noticed. I am a huge social media enthusiast and some of my closest real life friendships have been forged by way of it along with many other wonderful things. I see so much beauty and potential springing forth from social media and I feel very blessed to be part of it in some way. I also feel that balance has its place and when I give myself time away from media (or anything for that matter) to get in touch with the world immediately around me, whether it means my family, time in the actual presence of loved ones or time alone spent gazing at the clouds under the shade of a wise tree, when I come back to connect with the online world, it is more vibrant, colorful, healthy and fun. •
So here's to living well, living healthy and living free, and making room to recharge and refresh whether you need it or just because you feel like it. Either is a-okay. And Happy Independence Day, everyone. Thank you so much for the love and support that you grace me with to ramble and share my thoughts here. My heart feels very full tonight. ? •
