Experience the future of design technology at Out of Hand: Materialising the Digital, an exhibition curated by @maasmuseum and @madmuseum, exclusive to the #powerhousemuseum.

Opening in September 2016, this cutting-edge exhibition will showcase over 90 artworks and objects materialised using new digital technologies and the world's best design practices.

Discover designs created by digital knitting, CNC machining and 3D printing, including the above hermit crab 'shelter' created by Aki Inomata.

Using CT scans, she studied the natural shapes of hermit crab shells and by printing out the data using 3D printers she was able to create these intricate new shells for the crabs to move into.
