Yesterday, the girls and I were walking down to the lake while the boys were out fishing. We had been to breakfast and grabbed hot drinks at a local cafe.

Zoe turned to me on our walk, smiling, and said "I love it here. People are so nice, everyone feels like my family." I was touched by her feelings and observation, and then heart broken because I have been watching the news; A whole lot of people will never feel that way, no matter where they are, simply based on the color of their skin. They fear for their son's safety in public as they grow, and worse yet, their safety with law enforcement.
"To admit we've got a serious problem in no way contradicts our respect and appreciation for the vast majority of police officers who put their lives on the line to protect us every single day."
It's really past time to say something, to do something, to stand up for our black and brown friends in this country and in our communities. To care for the people around us regardless of their race or orientation, but more importantly to speak up against racism.

There are some links, resources and voices within an article I posted on my FB that are important.
