Here we are hiking into the remote camp of the Max Planck Institute field station in Salonga National Park, DRC one of the few places where you can see bonobos in the wild. To reach the field station we chartered a plane from Kinshasa to fly us 700-km northeast to a rough airstrip cut into the forest, and then hiked the last 35-km through the forest to the field camp. I have rarely had the opportunity to work in such an extremely remote location. The forest here is beautiful; truly undisturbed and the forest fauna is completely intact @thephotosociety @ナショナルジオグラフィック @natgeocreative #Wpph14 #conservation #ecology
