When @nytmag asked her to name one former Olympic athlete who has inspired her, she chose Mia Hamm, 44, who won gold medals in soccer in 1996 and 2004, and a silver in 2000. “I always had the standard male role models — I’d watch Michael Jordan and think, That’s a rad athlete — but when Mia came to the forefront on the national soccer team, I was so stoked to find a woman!” said @ケリー・ウォルシュ・ジェニングス, 37, who took home gold in 2004, 2008 and 2012. “She had the it factor, and she was everything I aspired to be. I admired her presence. She was so comfortable leading the ship: She rose to every occasion. It wasn’t just fearlessness; it was a knowing belief in herself.
