Photo by @andywcoleman // The Totem Pole is a tall, red sandstone column standing over 400 feet high in the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park on the border of Arizona and Utah. This is an example of what years of erosion does to a butte. The series of spires to the left are called Yei Bi Che. These are just a few of the extraordinary rock formations you can see in the Park. Most people will drive themselves to various vistas along the 17 mile scenic loop road. To get off the beaten track, and to learn more about the area and Navajo culture, I would suggest spending at least a day with a local guide.
