“The first #PopRally event was a screening with the artist @marceldzama in April 2006 (fun fact: an alternate name for the group was 'Post College, Pre Natal'), but our first attempt at a truly unique event was a concert with the band @chicksonspeed in conjunction with Douglas Gordon and his incredible “Timeline” exhibition at MoMA. It was a hot Saturday night and the concert was meant to be outside in the sculpture garden, but it rained and we had to move it to the museum's main lobby. Our mailing list was primarily friends and friends-of-friends at that point, but we sold every ticket, the Chicks were LOUD (way too loud for our neighbors, thank you rain) and the museum was still standing at the end of the night. It was a proper launch for the group and I couldn't be prouder that it's still around ten years later.”—Sean Egan, Producer, Film Exhibitions and Projects and former member (and founder!) of PopRally.
