Prada is honored to be included in the @メトロポリタン美術館 exhibition “ManusXMachina: Fashion in the Age of Technology” on view at the #CostumeInstitute through September 5, 2016. This timely exhibition examines the increasingly blurred distinctions between the handmade and machine-made; couture and ready-to-wear, to identify new design paradigms for fashion. Prada’s pioneering use of industrial nylon, a utilitarian material typically used for luggage or bags, gave radical new meaning to conventional notions of status and luxury. An iconic “little black dress” from Spring-Summer 1995 on view now, completely machined from Prada’s signature parachute nylon.
