photo by @chamiltonjames / Charlie Hamilton James. A young female spider monkey rests on the banks of the Manu River in Peru. The monkey is a pet and lives with the Machiguenga (Matsigenka) people in the indigenous community of Tayacome. Adult monkeys are often hunted for food in this very remote part of the Amazon; if they have babies they are kept as pets and raised with families in the community. This image was taken while on assignment in Manu National Park, the world’s most bio-diverse National Park for a story in June 2016 issue of NG magazine. I have just made created a new website with images from this story and others. Check it out at charliehamiltonjames.com or link through my IG profile @chamiltonjames
