Photo by @melissafarlow | Chasing light across sand dunes, I stopped in my tracks and tried to hold steady, wishing my tripod was not left in the trunk of my car. I stopped down the aperture, held my breath and shot three frames. Storm clouds smothered he warm glow on the dunes. This was when I shot film and I had to wait weeks to hear from my editor if it worked....if the picture was sharp or blurry or if it measured up to other frames. It didn't work for the story and wasn't published, but it lasted in my personal selects. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is from my third NatGeo assignment-a subtle but special place to celebrate America's 100 years of the National Parks. @thephotosociety @natgeocreative #nationalpark #nps100 #michigan
