After taking thousands of images of World War II—the destruction, brutality and even the death of his best friend—photographer Tony Vaccaro vowed never to point his lens in battle again. He returned to New York, instead directing it at fashion models and artists. He became a successful commercial photographer for Life and Look, among other publications. Now, at age 93, he still roams the city with his camera.
