“Past its heyday.” The @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer @fremson took this photo and others at the Campbell Inn, in Roscoe, New York. @ニューヨーク・タイムズ wrote about the inn — “an old-fashioned resort hotel catering largely to fishermen” — in 1985, when it was 87 years old. Its first mention was in 1905, when the Campbell was listed among the “smaller houses” in Roscoe that had “made exceptional preparations for a big season.” At that point, the inn’s “American plan rate,” for a room and 3 meals, was $29 per person. As a child, @fremson spent several summers there with her family. And after a weekend at the @eddieadamsworkshop in Jeffersonville, New York, just 20 minutes from Roscoe, she decided to pay the inn a visit. “I hadn't seen the Campbell Inn for many years and wanted to take a trip down memory lane,” she said. “As you can see from the photos,” she continued, “the bloom was long off the rose.” But for @fremson, the inn has “the beauty of faded memories and the patina of good times long gone.” #regram #ruthontheroad
