I met this little Soulrocker in Gezi Park right next to Taksim Square which was the site of a large demonstration against the government, who were attempting to chop down all the trees there, in order to build a shopping mall. There are very few parks, trees or open spaces in Istanbul so the destruction of this small park, was very significant to a lot of people. Protestors occupied the park and it led to widespread upheaval in Turkey. After much struggle the government moved in and forced out the occupiers who had built an entire tent city complete with a market and library, but it was too late. The hearts and minds of millions of people had been moved and in the end the park was saved and this little boy was playing on a new children's play structure when he walked up to us to see what we were filming. He even jumped in a little scene in the video.
