Photograph taken by @christianziegler on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック for a story on Bonobos in March 2013. This is one of my first encounters with a wild bonobo…. so curious, but also very careful and peaceful creatures. It took me 10 days tracking them in the field until I could capture this image of a bonobo a little closer and more relaxed, until then I only saw them in the distance, avoiding me! This encounter only lasted for about 3 seconds then she disappeared into for forest.
