@daya’s most prominent hit so far has been singing as a guest vocalist on @The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down,” which went to No. 3 on the @Billboard Hot 100. The club-pop song, however, is perhaps her least thematically representative. The 17-year-old songwriter did not contribute any writing to it. “I never wanted to be a feature — that was never the goal with my music,” she said. “I didn’t want to just live through other people’s work.” Her debut album, “Sit Still, Look Pretty,” both acknowledges her debt to and interest in gargantuan club music, while also suggesting her pop ambitions don’t only reside on the dance floor. “We didn’t put electronic songs on there because we had to,” @daya said. “We put them on because I love that music and I want that to be part of my brand going forward.” But as @joncaramanica writes in @ニューヨーク・タイムズ, it seems Daya wants to visit the club, not live there. @kristaschlueter took this portrait of #Daya at James J Walker Park in New York City.
