As many other nations were shunning refugees, thousands of Canadians began sponsoring families from Syria, giving their time and money to help mothers, fathers and children learn about life in a new country. But thanks in large part to cellphones and social media, #Canadians with no prior connection to the Middle East began getting glimpses into the well of desperation that is the refugee crisis. Now, they find themselves confronting difficult questions. Even though they’ve already responded to the refugee crisis more generously than many people across the world, is it enough?
