フィラデルフィア美術館のインスタグラム(philamuseum) - 11月9日 10時54分

Come see one of the latest additions to the #SouthAsianArt collection: a large-scale, painted cloth hanging that would have served as the backdrop to a shrine for the Hindu god Krishna. The women depicted are gopis, or milkmaids, whose intense love and passionate devotion for Krishna causes them to abandon their work and follow him anywhere. The lush flowering tree at the center of the scene symbolizes Krishna himself. 'Shrine Hanging with Krishna in Tree Form', 18th century, India
