This has been on my heart for awhile but I'm feeling its freshness as I've personally encountered this and have seen it occur with other beautiful souls whom I highly regard on social media within the last 24 hours and in several past occurrences too. I am a big proponent of being authentic and staying positive, and I am also learning that the process of both does not equate complacency or being a doormat. Taking a person's creative work and posting it as your own without properly crediting the work to its creator is plagiarism. And it's also a direct violation of Instagram's (and all other social media platforms) intellectual property laws. I understand that there genuinely may be those simply unaware, but when I see individuals and especially businesses do this, it is sad and disheartening to say the least and it does compromise trust (at least for me). It doesn't take any additional effort simply to add the proper credentials when using someone else's image or work. My intention in posting this is not to point fingers but rather to bring awareness in the hopes that we may all grow together and learn how to honor and lift each other up as we walk along this journey together. ❤️ •
