A "weiner" is an elephant seal pup that is no longer nursing but not yet swimming. They are among the most curious animals I have ever seen. Given the chance they will approach anything to see if it produces milk. I moved before this one had the chance to check if my camera was lactating. Earlier this month I had the good fortune to be on South Georgia before the elephant seal pups went to sea. Follow @salvarezphoto to see more images from this amazing place.
