Image by @beverlyjoubert. After a successful hunt in extremely hot conditions in the Selinda Reserve, a pack of painted dogs play in the nearby water to clean themselves and cool off. These highly endangered dogs are doing well here, and indeed this is a new pack that has turned up and seems to be staying. These dogs wander far and wide and are at risk of running into trouble with people. Disease is also a concern. But their numbers here are continuing to grow and we're heartened by what a great year it has been for the population in northern Botswana. #painteddogs #endangered #carnivores
