Video by @Joel Sartore | A Key Largo woodrat sniffs his surroundings at the start of a portrait session. Believe it or not, this is one of the most endangered rodents on this side of the planet. Massive development in the Florida Keys, combined with feral cats, have been deadly to this little rodent. Captive breeding helps, but setting aside and protecting some wild lands are critical to the species' long-term survival.
