Video by @bertiegregory of a 15,000 strong 'flamboyance' of flamingoes. This colony makes it's home on the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Thanks to these charismatic birds, a reserve was setup which now not only protects the flamingoes but a huge diversity of other species in this coastal area. Just like the jaguars that @stevewinterphoto and I have been documenting recently, this is a great example of using a charismatic species to save entire food chains. This was filmed with special permission from the reserve authorities and we were under constant supervision from flamingo experts that monitor this colony.
