His family came to the US when he was 10 years old and settled in Portland, Oregon. #JosefAlbers and his wife, artist #AnniAlbers, emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1933 after the Bauhaus school closed under Nazi pressure. #EvaHesse was born in 1936 in Hamburg, Germany.
