Houston held a lot of life and happiness for me, a ton of amazing memories and laughter, growth and lessons learned, friends that are like family to me and dreams that came true. I truly believe I became the woman I want to be for the rest of my life in that city. Through some turmoil, heartache, and learning how (and how not) to react when I was knocked to the ground, I evolved as a person. I made a lot mistakes, got pissed off at myself, and I tried harder. I loved the hardest. I do my best to make others feel that love and appreciation, whether that's to my Asian wife, my mom, or a twitter follower or stranger in the street. I want to spread good vibes, laughter, maybe some sarcasm, imperfection, and authenticity all around. I love so hard now. I developed some thick skin, and I'm much less distracted by negativity. I'm no longer defined by a relationship or success or growth. I'm defined by how I make people feel and who I am as a human. I became empowered and confident and beautifully imperfect and strong and...free. And I finally realized that the city that had shared with me my highest highs and my lowest lows, had taught me everything it had intended to, and it was my time to move on. I've got new lessons to learn, friends to appreciate, sunshine to bask in, mistakes to make and learn from, people and places to fall in and out of love with, horizons to see & experience, fresh, salty sea air to breathe, happiness to spread around like candy on Halloween: it's a whole new playground. And I feel ready for it. I feel proud of who I am, even if I'm not proud of every decision I've made. And I am so appreciative to the people that helped me become who I am today.
