?Two of our cheetahs at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute are spending their golden years together. Amani a 12-year-old female, and Barafu, a 13 ½ year-old male, have formed a different kind of cheetah coalition. Neither are recommended to breed any longer by the Species Survival Plan (SSP), and they both have many surviving cubs in the cheetah population in human care. After vasectomizing Barafu, keepers introduced the cheetahs to each other, and they have been living happily together since late January. #WeSaveSpecies
