Photo by @FransLanting // A lion in his prime is a glorious sight, but not many make it to this stage. They run into trouble with rivals—or people. A black-maned Kalahari lion like this one is prized by trophy hunters, but in Botswana hunting is banned, and has been since 2014. I share this image with thanks to my friends and colleagues @DereckJoubert and @BeverlyJoubert for causing an uproar about the plight of lions.
