My forced break from climbing due to torn ligaments in my ankle has provided the opportunity to focus my full attention on my nonprofit organization, @saeducationfund. Over the last few days, I've met with teachers, principals, kids, and parents to learn what the greatest needs are in this remote, underserved community of 40,000 people in the Namibian desert. I feel overwhelmed by the stories and facts, some heart warming and others horrific, that represent the day to day reality for so many children and families.
Here's a heart warming one, as the kids of Happy Feet Elementary learn to write their names. My favorite part is Maria's (their teacher) proud smile in the background.
