From the 1960’s, Giacometti developed a passion for creating #furniture, his magician's fingers giving life to #chairs, tables, consoles and lamps featuring a whole fauna of #frogs, #birds and #mice. These delightfully humorous animals – sometimes poised to leap, sometimes quiet and at peace – bring a touch of poetry to everyday life. Shown here is a patinated bronze and glass “Table Carcasse à la chauve-souris” (c. 1970) which features finely carved bats around its base.
