“Vasily Kandinsky is one of the Guggenheim’s most prominent collection artists, so I love seeing the artist’s work in other museums, such as ‘Painting with Archer’ (1909) at the @ニューヨーク近代美術館. As a museum educator, I often show Kandinsky’s earlier, more figurative works to the Guggenheim’s younger visitors because students make amazing connections between what Kandinsky painted and their own lives. In the artist’s abstract shapes and vibrant colors, they discover forms that remind them of their favorite animals, foods, or hobbies. Sometimes young visitors come up with imaginative stories about the works that help them think more deeply about the artist’s motivation or techniques.
