BRAND EVOLUTION
We introduced our signature @SamanthaWillsOfficial hand carved wooden box packaging in 2008. At the time, we would place orders with wood carving artisans, who carve each by hand in India & ship them over by the carton. Our growth curve was severe to say the least – those cartons soon turned to crates, & not too long after that to shipping containers.
Over the years, the #SamanthaWills wooden boxes have been replicated as birthday cakes, used for marriage proposals, and given as gifts for all occasions across the globe. Many of you own tens, some hundreds, and a few of you; thousands, of wooden boxes.
From our dedicated collectors, we have also seen them made into beautiful bed heads, utilized as carved wooden flooring & used as life size Jenga games (wear a helmet while playing, please!). Given how many a lot of you own, we also heard your many request for a box recycling program, or options to purchase without the box – when you speak, we listen. We worked hard on many iterations of how we could facilitate this program, however, unfortunately as with a company that is now the scale that we are, logistically it had us a little stuck. In addition to your requests, we also paralleled the evolution of our brand, from Boho Luxe, to Luxe Bohemian & beyond.
I looked at my personal evolution, who I was & my style, when I very first started the business at 21 – At that time, each order came in a brown lunch bag with an olive green SW sticker! As the brand progressed, and at age 24, I introduced olive silk round bottom drawn string pouches, (that when they were laying flat, looked like a shower cap!), they had a little cream ceramic bead on the drawstring, and a woven SAMANTHA WILLS label – quite a step up from the lunch bags I would buy from Coles, & hand apply each sticker to.
