This slideshow takes you behind the scenes of artist #JulioLeParc’s (@julio_le_parc) “Continuel-lumière cylindre” (Continuous-Light Cylinder) (1962–67), so you can see what it’s like to exhibit this complex piece. The sequence starts with a video clip of the installed artwork. Swipe left to see professional art handlers installing, followed by an installation view. In Le Parc’s dynamic work, continuously changing patterns of light beams are created by a large round screen and fan blades that rotate across an artificial light source in the base. We worked closely with an exhibition designer and installation team to set this up as a separate gallery space with seats. Displayed alone in this darkened room, the light beams are mesmerizing and visitors have commented on their hypnotic patterns. When you watch them, what's the effect on you?
