After having worked in the molecular lab they are having a coffee break on the university’s terrace that overlooks Florence’s Duomo. Caramelli and Pilli are known for retrieving the DNA and analyzing the genes of ancient species including from a Neanderthal skeleton. They are part of the international Leonardo Project aimed at finding and unraveling the DNA of Leonardo da Vinci. If ever a bone of the renaissance genius should be found it would be here that his DNA would be extracted and analyzed.
