Constructed in 1898, Mihonoseki Lighthouse stands at the eastern tip of Cape Jizo in Shimane Prefecture. This is a prime spot for catching the first light on New Year's Day, with the Sea of Japan spreading out before you as, to your right, the shoulder of Mount Daisen catches the newly risen sun.

Once you arrive, be sure to grab a bite at the Lighthouse Buffet.
