Today’s #VolunteersWeek post is by Fred, who is a Visitor Host at Tate Modern “I became involved in the Visitor Hosts Programme in 2008 because I had just retired and moved to London. Getting involved at Tate gave me an opportunity to link-up with my new community. As a visitor host, I get the chance to meet a wide range of people from around the world. There’s also a big perk of looking at such beautiful art.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fred particularly loves Bridget Riley’s work. ‘I first saw Bridget Riley's work in the 60s and it captivated me. It showed me for the first time (well, I was an impressionable youth from the sticks) that in an artwork what you see isn't always exactly what you get.
