?? Aujourd’hui nous célébrons la #JourneeMondialedelOcean ! Rendons hommage à la beauté et à la richesse des océans, et protégeons-les. Cette aquarelle datée vers 1819-1820 a été réalisée par Richard Parkes Bonington, artiste britannique majeur du début du XIXe siècle. Il commença son apprentissage très jeune avec son père, qui était peintre de portraits et de paysages. En 1817 sa famille s'installa en France, à Calais. Bonington prit alors des leçons auprès du peintre François Louis Thomas Francia, dont on sent l’influence dans cette aquarelle. En 1818, il déménagea à Paris où il rencontra Eugène Delacroix, qui deviendra plus tard son ami et avec qui il retournera en Angleterre en 1825.

This watercolour dating from 1819-1820 was made by Richard Parkes Bonington, a major British artist from the early 19th century. He started to learn at a very young age with his father, who was also a portrait and landscape painter. In 1817 his family moved to France, to Calais. There he became a student of the painter François Louis Thomas Francia, of whom we can feel the influence in this artwork. In 1818 Bonington moved to Paris, where he met Eugène Delacroix. They became friends and went back to England together in 1825.
