#regram from @nytarchives | “On Father's Day in 1992, I was a newly minted staff photographer for @ニューヨーク・タイムズ, tasked with finding an image that would capture a celebration of fatherhood,” writes our staff photographer @jamesestrin. “My dad had died a few years earlier and I had no children of my own at the time, so I had volunteered to work that day so someone else could have it off.” @jamesestrin started in the #Bronx, which is “always fertile ground for slice-of-life street photos,” he says. After taking "fairly boring photos" of baseball games at Allerton Fields, he was heading back to his car when he stumbled upon Fausto Toussaint laying on a blanket with his wife and 2 sons. “I took a few frames as I walked by and then turned back to ask him if I could photograph them as they enjoyed the day.” The next day this photo ran as the ode to #FathersDay in @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “I don’t know what happened to the family in the photo,” @jamesestrin writes. “I wonder if the boys have kids of their own.” As for @jamesestrin, this year he has Father’s Day off to celebrate with his wife and 2 children. #HappyFathersDay
