Today is Eid al-Fitr, an Islamic festival that breaks the month long fast of Ramadan and celebrates spiritual devotion with feasts and gifts. #HappyRamadan and Eid Mubarak! This manuscript was presumably created for the Muslim ruler of the Sultanate of Mandu, in central northern India. It is a fusion of Islamic and indigenous Indian pictorial traditions. It recounts the story of Chanda, a beautiful but unhappily married young woman, and her passion for the great warrior Laurak. Here Laurak distributes food to five armed companions.
