The Country is battling a rhino poaching crisis, with over 1,000 animals slaughtered for their horns in 2016.
According to the rhino poaching statistics South Africa is losing three rhinos a day to poachers despite law enforcement in the Kruger National Park reducing the losses there.
Africa’s white rhino species is the largest of any living rhinoceros species, weighing up to 3,600 kilograms (7,920 pounds), and is the continent’s third-largest species. The lifespan of a wild rhinoceros is unknown, but expected to be 35-50 years for any species.
