The view from the top of Mt Ritatjåkkå is one of the best you can get over Sarek’s untamed mountain world. The well-known Swedish mountain pioneer and second Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dag Hammarskjold, climbed the top in 1946. This is a view which only the most dedicated hikers/photographers will be rewarded with since it is located at least 3-4 days walking distance from the nearest road, depending on your starting point. Glaciers descend into the valleys, and a layer of fresh snow on the barren rocks lends a beautiful texture to the mountain slopes on this summers' day. A small cloud travels through the landscape at dusk, touching the highest peaks, making the scene unforgettable.
