On @comedycentral’s “Key and Peele,” @keeganmic played any number of outrageous characters: an “anger translator” for @Barack Obama; a battle-honed substitute teacher adjusting to a mostly white classroom; a squad’s worth of oddly named college football players. But in the 2 years since that socially conscious sketch series ended, @keeganmic has been pursuing a very different project: figuring out who he is and what he wants to do independently of his frequent collaborator @jordanpeele. That identity has started coming into clearer focus with roles in a new @ネットフリックス comedy, "Friends From College,” and the @publictheaterny’s production of “Hamlet.” So, how did @keeganmic end up in “Hamlet”? He started regularly having coffee with the director, Sam Gold. Then, one day, out of the blue, the 46-year-old explained, Sam offered him the role of Horatio — “a role that I’ve been fascinated by for well over 20 years." @keeganmic’s dream? "If Matt Damon retired, I want to play Jason Bourne in 4 more Jason Bourne films, and I want to get $5 million a picture, and then in my off time, do Shakespeare.” @alexwelshphoto took this portrait of #KeeganMichaelKey outside the @publictheaterny while on #nytassignment.
